When the flashing lights of a California Highway Patrol car appeared behind two Santa Clarita women working to rescue a stray dog from the side of the 14 freeway last week, a unique partnership was born.

Members of the Facebook group Lost and Found Pets of SCV and the Santa Clarita-based All Animal Search and Rescue Team came together to reunite 49 (and counting) lost pets with their owners over the Fourth of July weekend, and more pets were still reported as lost or found on Friday.
